The annual Michael Collins commemoration will be held on Sunday 19 August 2012 at Beal na mBlath in Co Cork.

This is the 90th anniversary of the ambush that led to Michael Collins death in 1922. The event will include an oration by Irish Taoiseach, Enda Kenny at 3pm and is expected to be the biggest in recent times. It is also expected that on display will be the original armoured car used by Collins in 1922.

The Irish Central Bank also released limited edition commemorative coins to mark the 90th anniversary. A gold and silver collectors coin have been designed by artist Thomas Ryan and feature a portrait of Michael Collins.
