December 1494 - Poynings Law enacted, reducing the powers of the Irish Parliament and remaining in force until 1782.

1679 - St. Oliver Plunkett, Archbishop of Armagh is arrested for treason.

1921 - Signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty which brought an end to the Irish War of Independence
